Detailed Description
Your stroll will start at the oldest bridge of the city: one of the main attractions of Paris until the end of the 19th century!
With your guide you will discover incredible stories of kings and queens, crusades and religious wars, times when the city of light struggled to stay united and at peace.
You will cross a hidden royal square as well as the old royal residence of the city, La Conciergerie. Here you will understand the origins of royal power in France and the curious changes to this historic building.
When passing by the Sainte Chapelle, one of the masterpieces of gothic architecture, you will find out the importance of the Catholic church during the medieval times and how Paris became one of the most famous religious sites so many centuries ago.
A colourful flower market will be on your way to Notre Dame Cathedral, where you will be able to admire the imposing structure that survived the recent fire, and see many details that make it one of the most spectacular religious monuments in the world.
After walking some of the charming old streets that still remain in the island you will get to the Île de Saint Louis, the smaller island, a perfect place to enjoy a café, a crêpe or an ice cream while window shopping and discovering more curious stories.
This stroll will end with a wonderful view towards the east side of the river, at a local square where you might want to relax after your stroll and enjoy the breeze that characterizes the magical Seine river banks.
